Phase 6 of LS polls sees voter turnout of 63.48%, reports EC

Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha election recorded an overall turnout of 63.48% covering 59 constituencies in 6 states and a Union Territory as of 9:00 pm. However, there was no difference as compared to the turnout of 63.37% recorded in 2014.

So far, Phase- I reported the highest at 69.50%. Phase- II reported 69.44%. Phase- III reported 68.40%. Phase- IV reported 65.51% and Phase-V reported a turnout of nearly 65 per cent.

On the other hand, West Bengal reported a decline as 80.35% turnout was recorded as compared to 84.95% in 2014. Similarly, Haryana dropped to 67.35% as compared to 71.86% in 2014.

Whereas, Jharkhand reported 65.17% polling turnout against 65.53% in 2014 in Phase 6.

It is to be mentioned that, Phase 7 of the Lok Sabha polls is to be held on May 19. As many as 59 constituencies will undergo polls on May 19. The states that will undergo polls in Phase 7 are- Chandigarh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jarkhand, Himachal and Bihar. In Chandigarh, one constituency will undergo polls, 9 in West Bengal, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Punjab, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand, 4 in Himachal and 8 in Bihar.
