Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the lockdown in the country amid rising cases of novel coronavirus.
Kejriwal opined that India was in a better state than the rest of the world following PM Modi's decision to impose a lockdown early. The Prime Minister today had a discussion with the Chief Ministers of the States to address matters related to lockdown, during which it was decided that India will follow the shutdown for another two weeks.
Although formal announcement is yet to be made, Delhi CM Kejriwal tweeted that Modi was right in extending the lockdown.

“The PM has taken the correct decision to extend the lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than many developed countries because we started lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is important to extend it,” Kejriwal tweeted.
PM Modi, during his meeting with the CMs of the States, said that the lockdown is likely to be extended for two more weeks to curb the spread of coronavirus. He also assured that there would be relaxations, including running industries and allowing inter-district travel in places with no spread of the disease.
Odisha and Punjab are the two States, which have already extended lockdown till April end.

It may be mentioned here that the total number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 7,447 while the death toll is now 239, according to the Health Ministry. 642 people have recovered. In the last 24 hours - there have been 1,035 new cases and 40 deaths, which is the highest single day figure in the country.
