Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday once again praised Sikkim for setting an example as the country’s and world’s first totally organic state.
While speaking in the Parliament today, the Prime Minister appreciated the northeastern state for its feat in becoming a completely organic state despite its limitations.

In his speech in the Lok Sabha today, he said, “Hamare desh mein Sikkim ek aisa Pradesh hain jisne apne aap ko ek organic state ke roop mein usne apni pehchaan banayi hain. Aur ek prakar se desh ke kayi rajyon ko Sikkim jaise ek chote rajya ne prerna di hain. Sikkim ke kisan, Sikkim ke nagarik (We have one state in our country, which has been able to build itself as an organic state. And in a way, Sikkim being such a small state, has set an inspiration for the rest of the states).

It may be mentioned here that Sikkim had bagged the prestigious Future Policy Gold Award in 2018 for encouraging the sustainable food system. This award is given by the UN body Food & Agriculture Organisation.
