Following the violence caused after the Pulawama terrorist attack, the Deputy Mayor of Srinagar, Sheikh Muhammad Imran wrote to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik to help maintain peace in the region.
In the letter, Sheikh Muhammad Imran stated, “As we know none of the Kashmiris was involved in terror attack, on 14th February but every Kashmiri seems to be targeted in Jammu and across the country, therefore it is requested to plead for peace and to create an atmosphere where people of Kashmir are safe in all the other states across India.”
The mayor also stated that have been an intense growth of discrimination based on the region and religion in the region just after the attack.
Through the letter, he mentioned that he has received complaints regarding harassment of people of Kashmir across the country which needs immediate redressal and that they have no option but to plead and make sure that every Kashmiri returns to Kashmir.
In the meantime he also suggested that DGP’s cross the country should provide a helpline and be directed for the security of Kashmiris especially families, students, traders, visitors including other Kashmiris immediately on war footing basis to secure the place or with the help of Indian Air Force to send them back to Kashmir.
Traders to shut businesses in Lal Chowk after 3 pm today to protest against the attacks on Kashmiri’s outside valley.
