Ram temple work to start before Diwali: Swamy

Guwahati (Assam), Sept 1, 2018:

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said work for the construction of Ram temple would be started before next Diwali. The proposed construction of the Ram temple has been a poll plank of the BJP for years.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday, he also said that as India is the only Hindu country in the world, the Hindu immigrants have to be given asylum here. His remark was in the context of updation of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The BJP’s position is that the non-Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh should be granted citizenship on the ground that they had to flee the neighbouring country in the face of religious persecution. The NRC is being updated based on March 24, 1971 as the cut-off date.
