Remembering Sushma Swaraj, One of the Most Ardent Lovers of the Sanskrit Language

The entire nation has come forward to pay their rich tributes to BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, one of the rare loved politicians across all party lines.

As the mortal remains of the former Union Minister reaches the crematorium for her last rites, the nation recalls one of the fiercest, strongest and most powerful voices in the Indian Political arena.

Swaraj is perhaps best-known for breaking the glass-ceiling and becoming a strong voice and role-model for the women of the country.

There is no doubt the Swaraj exemplified the values of courage, empathy, and leadership. The leader breathed her last a few hours after she had conveyed her happiness at the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir.

Swaraj's feisty nature was on full display during her speeches, and perhaps this is the moment to reflect back on some of the most powerful words she has spoken.

One of her most powerful speeches was delivered at the Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, while speaking about the Sanskrit language.

In the presence of lumanaries like Amitabh Bachchan and Sam Pitroda, she had said that Sankrit is the most 'scientific language'. She said that Sanskrit is written exactly as it is spoken, which is why it was adjudged the most appropriate language for a 'speaking computer'.

"In Sanskrit, what you see is what you get", she had said, and commended the language for its clarity and purity and delves into the technical brilliance of the age-old language.

Sushma Swaraj completed her graduation from Sanatan Dharma College of Ambala Cantonment and got her bachelor’s degree with honours in Political Science and Sanskrit, and it is said that she had great love for the ancient Indian language.

For three consecutive years, the powerful orator won the best Hindi speaker award, a state-level competition held by the Language Department of Haryana.
