The National Investigative Agency (NIA) today carried out searches in the private residences of separatists in the Kashmir valley, including Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Yaseen Malik, Shabir Shah and Ashraf Sehrai, in a 'funding case', as per official reports.
The NIA sleuths were accompanied by local police and CRPF personnel to the houses of the leaders.The combined personnel carried out searches at nearly nine places across Kashmir, which included the house of Nayeem Geelani, son of Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, it has been reported. Besides these, the houses of JKLF leader Yaseen Malik, Shabir Shah, Ashraf Sehrai and Zaffar Bhat were also raided.
After the house of Yaseen Malik was raided, clashes broke out between the armed forces and civilians in Maisuma in Srinagar. The situation in Kashmir remains volatile after the terror attack in Pulwama district in Kashmir where 42 jawans were martyred.
