The Supreme Court has directed all the political parties to furnish receipts and details of funds and the donations received through electoral bonds to the Election Commission by May 30 based on a plea filed by NGO, Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR).
In its plea, the ADR had asked for the system of electoral bonds to be stopped or disclose the donors for transparency in the election process.
The SC in its order mentioned that the details of the funds and donors will be in the safe custody of the Election Commission.
Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi earlier said, “If the identity of those buying the electoral funds meant for transparent political funding was not known, the government's efforts to check black money in polls would be futile.”
