New Delhi, January 5, 2020:

Swaraj Party leader Yogendra Yadav has launched a new missed call campaign to garner mass opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategy.

In a video that he shared on social media, Yadav was seen promoting the new toll free number, wherein people can give a missed call and show their opposition to the CAA, NRC and NPR. The new number, 7787060606, has been arranged solely to mark as a protest against the citizenship exercises that have been going on in the country.

Yogendra Yadav is seen talking about the cons of the campaign in the very beginning. “I am sorry. This campaign will not offer you free Netflix subscription. It will also not bring you iPhones or dates. We are not even distributing money. It will just give you the voice…the voice to speak out against the CAA, NRC and NPR,” he said.

He urged the people to say NO to CAA, NRC and NPR and call in the said phone number. In the video he was seen hinting at the BJP’s recently launched missed call campaign, which took a “desperate” turn in a bid to garner support for the CAA.

It may be mentioned here that the campaign of missed call by the BJP has been termed as “desperate” as several fake accounts have shared the toll free number with posts like “Call me… 8866288662. I’m free right now, waiting ur call.” “Too bored today so ready to share my number with all my followers. Call me…”

One account even circulated the message offering six months of free Netflix subscription in exchange of missed calls on the said number. The BJP campaign has been called a ploy to lure support for the controversial CAA through fake accounts on social media.
