A terrorist has been shot dead by security forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said. The operation is taking place at Chadoora area of Budgam.
A police official said that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bugam area of Budgam district in central Kashmir this morning following information about the presence of terrorists lurking in the area.
Sub Inspector, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Vinay Kumar has said that the encounter process is underway and one terrorist has been killed during the cross firing. "The operation will continue for a while as an exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces is still going on", he added.
In a similar incident on Friday, the body of a terrorist was recovered from the site where an encounter broke out earlier in Budgam district, police said.
The exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security personnel in the early hours of Friday in Kralpora area.
