Security forces gunned down two Ansar-Gazwatul-Hind (AGH) militants on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The two slain Ansar-Gazwatul-Hind militants have been identified as Sayar Ahmad Bhat, son of Sanauallah of Manchowa Kulgam, and Shakir Ahmad Wagay of Awneera Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The militants were wanted in several cases.
According to police the two militants were killed in a pre-dawn encounter in Awneera village of Shopian district.
Security forces started a cordon and launched search operation in Awneera village of Shopian district on Monday evening following information about the presence of some militants in the area.
The holed up militants reportedly fired upon the police triggering an encounter.
The search operation is currently underway.
It may be mentioned that the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind is a militant islamic jihadi organization and Al-Qaeda cell in Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir led by Zakir Rashid Bhat.
The Ghazwat leader Bhat was recently killed in an encounter with the Indian Army at the Dadsar village in Pulwama.
