Zee News Editor-in-Chief Summoned in Defamation Case by Trinamool Congress Leader Mahua Moitra

New Delhi, November 4, 2019:

A Delhi court has issued summons to the Editor-in-Chief of Zee News, Sudhir Chaudhary in a defamation case filed by Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra.

The Court of Metropolitan Magistrate has ordered the Editor-in-Chief to appear before it on January 29, 2020.

According to reports, Mahua Moitra had filed a defamation case against Sudhir Choudhary following an allegation that her speech on 'Seven Signs of Fascism' was plagiarized. The speech dates back to June 25.

Mahua has termed the allegation as ‘false, baseless and malicious and clarified that her speech carried attributions. She, according to reports, further stated in her pre-summoning statement that the signs were taken from a longer list of signs available on a poster in the Holocaust Museum in the US.

She charged the Editor-in-Chief with the attempt of severely damaging and lowering her credibility, reputation and integrity. She added that he personally attacked her on a prime time show for the speech that she delivered on June 25 in the Parliament and made defamatory imputations and comments.

Meanwhile, Sudhir Choudhary, reportedly, has initiated a criminal action against the Trinamool Congress leader for her ‘false’ criminal defamation case and playing fraud with the Court.
