Army Jawans rescue stranded vehicles in snow-hit Anantnag

In Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, CRPF jawans lent a helping hand to vehicles stranded due to heavy snowfall. The region was hit by showers and snowfall on Monday, resulting in many roads, including the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, being blocked due to precipitation-triggered landslides.

The highway was obstructed at several locations in the Ramban district. Due to the inclement weather leading to landslides and rockfalls along NH-44, the road was closed at Dalwas, Mehad-Cafeteria, Ramban, Chamlwas, and Gangroo.

The rockfalls also occurred at T2, Jaiswal bridge, Gangro, Marog, and other places along the highway. The traffic department in its official statement advised people to avoid travelling on NH-44 until weather conditions improved and the road was cleared.

The Kashmir Valley experienced heavy rainfall in the plains and moderate to heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of northern, central, and southern Kashmir. The summer capital Srinagar faced high-velocity winds amid continuous rainfall throughout the day.
