Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has criticised the BJP over the issue of nameplates on food shops along the Kanwar route in Uttar Pradesh.
He stated that the BJP is in trouble after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and has resorted to communal politics. Gogoi added that the people of the nation have rejected communal politics.
On 'nameplates' on food shops on the Kanwar route in Uttar Pradesh, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, "After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP is in trouble...It has returned to the path of communal politics. They(BJP) have forgotten that the people of the nation have rejected communal politics..."
In a move that has sparked widespread controversy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the installation of nameplates for proprietors of all eateries and restaurants along the Kanwar Yatra route.

The decision, aimed at maintaining the purity of the Kanwar pilgrims’ faith, was reported by the news agency ANI citing an order from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Earlier, the Congress MP also slammed the Assam BJP government for focusing on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) instead of addressing significant local issues.
Gogoi pointed out that many residents in Assam lack Aadhaar cards, preventing them from accessing ration supplies. He also highlighted that numerous Bengali Hindus are excluded from the National Register of Citizens (NRC) list.
"In Assam, people don't have Aadhaar card, because of which they are unable to get ration", said Gaurav Gogoi. "Many Bengali Hindus are not in NRC (list). Instead of solving their problems, the ruling state government of BJP wants to implement CAA. Himanta Biswa Sarma says that only 8-9 people have applied (for citizenship under CAA in Assam). He has ended the Assam Accord for just 8-9 people", added Gogoi.
