'Don't call Sonam the accused...never saw two fighting': Raja Raghuvanshi's brother

In a twist to the Indore missing couple case, 24-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi was found near a roadside eatery — Kashi Dhaba — on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway in Uttar Pradesh.

The discovery has triggered a fresh wave of questions and allegations from the victim’s family, who are now demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.

Vipul Raghuvanshi, brother of the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi, spoke out strongly after the news broke. “I spoke to Govind, Sonam’s brother, around 2 AM. He informed me that she was found in UP. But let me be clear — she didn’t surrender. She was taken by the police. Until and unless Sonam confesses, we will not accept she is the accused,” he told reporters.

Sonam was initially taken to Sadar Hospital for medical examination and is currently housed at the One Stop Centre in Ghazipur, confirmed Uttar Pradesh’s Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash.

Vipul added that the family had never witnessed any marital discord between Raja and Sonam, describing them as a happy couple. “I never saw them fight. Police haven't even given us my brother’s post-mortem report. Meghalaya CM keeps saying the police are working round the clock, but the SP never answered our calls,” he said, voicing deep frustration.

"... I had no idea about those 3-4 people till the time I did not know their names... Raj Kushwaha's name has come forward, which means Sonam can be involved in the murder... Raj Kushwaha was Sonam's employee. They would constantly talk on phone... Both of them were happy when their marriage was fixed... We never thought Sonam would do something like this... Meghalaya government is not lying about the involvement of others... I have never seen Raj Kushwaha till now, I have just heard his name... Sonam can be involved in this... They were only supposed to go to Assam to offer prayers at Maa Kamakhya Temple. After that, they said they were heading to Shillong. We don't know who out of the two planned their visit to Meghalaya. They did not book any return tickets..., added Vipul.

The family also criticized the lack of communication from the Shillong Police and said they had no information about how Sonam landed in Ghazipur. “We want Madhya Pradesh Police and the CBI to handle this case now. If Sonam is guilty, she should be punished — but the truth must come out through a fair investigation,” Vipul insisted.

The case has already sparked national attention, with growing calls for inter-state cooperation between Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh Police. The circumstances under which Sonam went missing — and how she turned up in eastern Uttar Pradesh — remain murky, leaving many unanswered questions about the tragic disappearance and suspected murder of Raja Raghuvanshi.

The pressure is now mounting on law enforcement agencies to act decisively, transparently, and with sensitivity — as a grieving family waits for justice.
