Haridwar woman thrashes minor son over dispute with husband, sends him viral video

A video showing a woman thrashing her minor son in Haridwar has been widely circulated on social media, prompting a police investigation and public outcry. The video, shot by a third party, captures the woman hitting one of her sons while the other child stands nearby.

 

Haridwar Police, upon taking note of the viral video, revealed that the incident occurred nearly two months ago. 

 

In an official statement on social media, the police explained that the woman, seen assaulting her 11-year-old son, staged the incident to frighten her husband, who lives in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the video was recorded by the woman’s elder son, who is also a minor. The husband, an alcohol addict who had not been contributing to household expenses, received the video and subsequently shared it online. 

 

As the video gained widespread attention, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was notified, leading to the woman being summoned for interrogation.

 

During questioning, the woman admitted to staging the incident to scare her husband, with whom she has been in a prolonged dispute over his drinking habits and lack of financial support. She disclosed that her husband had not been home for several months, as he was managing a shop in Uttar Pradesh.

Neighbours interviewed by the police attested to the woman’s generally good treatment of her children, with no prior complaints against her. The police are also investigating the woman's allegations against her husband.

 

The mother is now set to undergo multiple rounds of counseling, as confirmed by the Haridwar Police. 

 

The investigation continues as authorities work to verify all claims and ensure the well-being of the involved children.
