Himanta jabs Mamata, says she mentions Modi, Shah more than God in speeches

Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 16 took a swipe at Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of “creating an atmosphere of fear” through her speeches.

Addressing a rally, Sarma alleged that Banerjee focuses more on criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah than on governance, claiming she “keeps complaining” in her public addresses.

On the issue of delimitation, the Assam Chief Minister said eastern states would benefit significantly if the exercise is carried out. “If delimitation happens, Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, and Assam—the eastern block will benefit the most,” he said, adding that seats in the region could see a substantial increase.

The remarks come amid an ongoing political debate over delimitation and its potential impact on representation across states.

On West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's statement, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says, "Mamata Banerjee is not talking about chicken or mutton. She is speaking about beef. Whether it is Assam, Bengal, Gujarat or Bihar, everyone eats non-vegetarian food. This shouldn't even be an issue... In my opinion, a problem can arise only at those places where they think that after the BJP comes to power, people won't be able to consume cow-meat..."

On TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's statement that ECI is working as the BJP's 'Trump Card', he says, "Officers get transferred in Assam too. We don't even pay attention to that. But why do these people cry so much if an officer is transferred?... What is the point of this?"
