BJP MP Dr. Sambit Patra strongly condemned the recent attack on Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral house in Bangladesh, calling it a pre-planned assault allegedly carried out by Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islam.
Speaking at a press conference, Patra said,"This is not just an international issue, this is about Rabindranath Tagore—the soul of Bengali culture and heritage. His Kacharibari, built by his grandfather, was targeted in a five-day planned attack. It is a direct blow to our cultural civilisation."
Patra criticised the interim government in Bangladesh under Muhammad Yunus, saying it failed to protect an internationally significant monument.
“This inaction sends a deplorable message to the world,” he added.

Taking a direct swipe at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Patra questioned her silence.
"Why hasn’t Mamata Banerjee held a press conference? Because vote bank politics dominates her actions. People from across the border might be her potential voters,” he alleged.
He further declared, “The age of appeasement politics is coming to an end. BJP stands for cultural politics, not vote-bank appeasement.”
Patra concluded by saying that violence against Hindus in Bengal continues unchecked, and TMC’s silence on the Tagore incident only reinforces the state’s political priorities.
