A massive fire broke out in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) campus, in Ranchi on May 5 sending wisps of black smoke in the sky.
10 fire tenders reached the spot upon receiving the information, following which stringent efforts were taken to extinguish the blaze which was later brought under control.
No casualties were reported.
According to sources, a cable installed in the BSNL premises ignited the fire which spread to nearby bushes, hence the flames intensified and caused significant damage.
More details are awaited as investigation is under way.
It may be mentioned that the fire services of Jharkhand under the department of home jail and disaster management is on alert as the prevailing heatwave has led to frequent fire cases across the state. Officials had said that the state saw 145 minor and major fire incidents in the past few days.
