Kerala: 4 students dead in stampede at concert in Kochi university, over 60 injured

Four students lost their lives and over 60 were injured in a stampede at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) during a music concert featuring popular playback singer Nikhita Gandhi. The event took place at the university's open-air auditorium as part of a Tech Fest on November 25 evening.

Emergency services rushed the injured to Kalamassery Medical College and Kinder hospital for immediate medical attention. Health Minister Veena George has assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to provide support and care to the victims.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident occurred when students positioned towards the rear of the open-air auditorium rushed towards the stage due to an unexpected downpour. Lacking shelter at the back, the students hurried forward, causing a surge in the crowd that led to a stampede-like situation.
