Kiren Rijiju condemns opposition's disruption of PM Modi's speech, alleges hypocrisy on freedom of speech

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has strongly criticized the disruption caused by the Congress and its allies during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent address in the Lok Sabha. Rijiju stressed on the importance of respecting the Prime Minister's speech, stressing that in a democracy, all parties have the right to speak and listen.

"When the Prime Minister of the country and the leader of the House present their views, everyone has to listen, whether it is the ruling party or the Opposition," Rijiju stated. "It is very sad because when the Prime Minister of the country speaks, he is given full time to speak, this has been the tradition."

He further expressed disappointment saying, "If they want to interrupt or give clarification in between, then it is fine. Some interruptions are definitely done during the speech but you will not let him speak for the entire 2-hour by making noise and raising slogans. This has never happened," Rijiju lamented.

Rijiju urged the Congress party to recognize that the Prime Minister represents the entire nation, not just a political party. "The Congress party will have to think that the Prime Minister of the country does not belong to any party. He leads the entire country," he emphasized.

Shedding light on the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) issue, Rijiju addressed concerns regarding the future of students. "Today, the Prime Minister has written very clearly that strict steps have been taken and will be taken further too," Rijiju affirmed. "We will take the strictest action against those who play with the future of students."

He reassured the public that the government is committed to ensuring justice and accountability. "Steps are already being taken, in which a law has also been passed. Now under this law, action will be taken further too," Rijiju assured.

Regarding criticisms directed at the government, Rijiju criticized the opposition for what he perceived as baseless attacks. "These people (opposition) keep abusing Modi from morning to evening and night and then they say that there is no freedom of speech," he remarked.
