A man posted a video of a live worm crawling inside a chocolate bar on X. He said he got that same carton of Cadbury chocolate from a Hyderabad metro station.
The man also questioned "quality checks" pertaining to soon-to-expire items. Many people responded to his tweet, including Cadbury, the chocolate manufacturer, with remarks.
A video showing the worm within the chocolate bar was shared by X user Robin Zaccheus. In addition, he uploaded a picture of his receipt from the retailer where he made the purchase.
“Found a worm crawling in Cadbury chocolate purchased at Ratnadeep Metro Ameerpet today. Is there a quality check for these near-expiry products? Who is responsible for public health hazards?” Zaccheus wrote. He wrapped up his post by tagging several people and organisations.
Two days ago, the post was shared. It has had over 87,000 views since then. In addition, the tweet has received close to 500 likes. As they responded to the share, people left a variety of responses.
The chocolate company shared a standardised reply in the comments section. They apologised for Zaccheus’ “unpleasant experience” and shared that they always try to “maintain the highest quality standards”. The company also requested Zaccheus to share his contact information to further investigate the matter.
