Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Rahul Gandhi, questioning his recent remarks on Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). Rijiju asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most prominent OBC leader in the country and one of the most popular global figures, asking whether Gandhi was "blind" to this fact.
"In the past two to three years, Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly spoken about SC, ST, and OBC representation. But can he not see that the Prime Minister himself belongs to the OBC community? He is the most popular leader in the world," Rijiju stated.
Highlighting the representation of marginalized communities in the BJP-led government, Rijiju further emphasized his own role as an ST leader serving as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
He also pointed to MoS Arjun Ram Meghwal, a Dalit, who currently holds the position of Law Minister.
"Did the Congress party ever appoint a Tribal or Dalit as the Law Minister? Did they ever make an OBC the Prime Minister? Rahul Gandhi seems unaware of what he is saying," Rijiju remarked.
His statements come amid ongoing political debates over caste representation, as the opposition intensifies its narrative on social justice and inclusion.
