Union Minister Giriraj Singh, while addressing the media in Begusarai, Bihar, on December 17, 2023, made a statement regarding the practice of animal sacrifice within 'Sanatana Dharma', commonly known as Hinduism.
He highlighted that 'Sanatana Dharma' encompasses 'bali pratha', which translates to animal sacrifice, and within this practice is 'jhatka', a method of slaughtering an animal with a single strike.
This comment was made in the context of his respect for Muslims who are committed to their religion, suggesting that Hindus should also understand and acknowledge their religious practices.

Furthermore, Giriraj Singh announced his intention to open a 'jhatka' meat shop in Bihar, indicating a move to provide facilities that align with the 'bali pratha' tradition of 'Sanatana Dharma'.
