Shivraj Singh Chouhan all smiles as BJP set to retain Madhya Pradesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form a government again with an absolute majority, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday, as early trends marked the party's lead.

'Bharat Mata ki Jai, Janta Janardan ki Jai', Today the results of Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections are coming, and I am confident that with the blessings of the people and the able leadership of respected Prime Minister @narendramodi, Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form the government again with full majority. Hearty congratulations to all the candidates of BJP," the Chief Minister wrote on X.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, later while speaking to reporters, credited the double-engine government for the party's leading trends. He said that the double-engine government properly implemented the schemes of the Central Government which touched people's hearts.

"Modi ji MP ke mann mein hain aur Modi ji ke mann mein MP hai. He held public rallies here and appealed to the people and that touched people's hearts. These trends are a result of that. Double-engine government properly implemented the schemes of the Central Government and the schemes that were formed here also touched people's hearts. Madhya Pradesh became a family...I had said earlier too that the BJP would get a comfortable and grand majority as people's love for us was visible everywhere," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

Asserting that the "double engine government" of the BJP at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh had brought about huge development, Shivraj Chouhan said he was never in any doubt about his party retaining power.

Referring to his government's flagship 'Ladli Behna Yojana' for women, the Chief Minister said, "We always felt we will win and we are winning. The love and affection shown by our sisters, nieces and nephews (referring to citizens of the state) has been tremendous. At times, more women were present at our rallies than men. There was no 'kaante ki takkar (tough fight). Our ladli behanas have removed all the thorns (kaante)."

As many as 100 packets of sweets reached Shivraj Singh's residence to mark the celebrations as early leads showed the BJP ahead.

Meanwhile, Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Narendra Tomar also arrived at the Chief Minister's residence on Sunday.

Scindia said, "We knew that as far as Madhya Pradesh is concerned, given the public welfare schemes of our double engine government - people's blessings will be with us."

"I am confident that their blessings will be with the BJP, and we will form the government with an absolute majority," he said.
