Watch: Border security personnel boils egg in hot sand in Rajasthan’s Bikaner

As most parts of the country grapple severe heatwave conditions, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, stationed at the border near Rajasthan's Bikaner, demonstrated the sizzling temperature through an egg which he buried in the hot sand and boiled it.

In a viral video, the BSF personnel buries the egg in the hot sand, leaving it there for a few minutes only to find it fully cooked. Later, the jawan also breaks the egg open and eats it to show that it has been properly boiled.
The current temperature in the Rajasthan city is 46 to 47 degrees Celsius, while The mercury has soared to 48.8 degrees Celsius in parts of the state.

Speaking to reporters, a BSF official informed that the soldiers patrol continuously despite the high temperature. He also said that they are provided with lemon water and other fluids frequently to protect them from heat stroke.

Meanwhile, Guwahati has recorded a scorching 40°C on May 24, as reported by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati. This extreme temperature continues the heatwave that has gripped the city, marking one of the hottest days in its recent history.

Dispur, a locality in Guwahati, also reported 40°C, while the areas around Guwahati Airport and IIT Guwahati experienced slightly cooler yet oppressive temperatures of 39°C.

Historically, Guwahati has only surpassed the 40°C mark on three occasions, twice in April 2014 and once in May 1960.

The all-time highest temperature recorded in the city was 40.6°C in April 2014, with the highest May temperature being 40.3°C, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
