GANGTOK: Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari has been sworn as the 21st Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court today at Raj Bhawan in a glittering function.
Governor Ganga Prasad administered the oath of affirmation and secrecy of the office of the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari.
Chief Secretary S C Gupta read out the notification of transfer of Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari from Andra Pradesh High Court to Sikkim High Court.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, cabinet ministers and Judges of the High Court of Sikkim and seniormost officials of the state Government and High Court Registry, and members of the bar and bench were also present in the swearing-in-ceremony.
Chief Justice Madheshwari took charge of his incumbent Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, who was recently transferred to Andra Pradesh High Court.
Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari was born on 29 June 1961 in a small village of Joura District of Morena.
He was a practicing lawyer in Gwalior before he was elevated to the bench. He has served in Madhya Pradesh High Court till September 2019 and was serving as the Chief Justice of Andra Pradesh High Court till last month.
