Sikkim: 2 positive cases, state total active cases rise to 46

Two new COVID cases have been reported in the state, one from East Sikkim and one from South of the state.

Sikkim and the Northeast

Assam has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Northeast India followed by Tripura. Sikkim has the second-lowest cases.

India COVID-19 cases so far

India recorded 418 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 16,922 new Covid19 positive cases reported in India in the last 24 hours. Positive cases in India stand at 4,73,105 including 1,86,514 active cases, 2,71,697 cured/discharged/migrated & 14,894 deaths. 75,60,782 samples tested till 24th June. 2,07,871 samples tested in the last 24 hours: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 6 thousand deaths. It has recorded 142900 corona cases with 73792 cured, 6739 deaths, and 62369 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 70390 cases with 41437 cured, 2365 deaths, and 26588 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 67468 positive cases with 37763 cured, 866 deaths 28839 active cases. Gujarat with 28943 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 21088 have been cured, 1735 deaths, and 6120 active cases.

Earlier in Sikkim

Sikkim reported four more COVID-19 cases on June 23^rd, 2020, taking the Himalayan state's total to 83, a top Health department official said on Wednesday.

Director General (DG)-cum-Secretary, Health, Sikkim Dr Pema T Bhutia said that four persons, all the cases are from South District. “Their contact tracing is being carried out,” he added.
