Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj has submitted a memorandum to Union Home minister Amit Shah demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and send an official notification assuring that the citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will not affect the Sikkimese people.

The delegation consisting of chief Patron and state coordinator of Sikkimey in Nagar Samaj submitted that demands to home ministry as State Assembly failed to bring resolution on citizenship Amendment Act in line with the Assurance given by home minister in the parliament.

The memorandum submitted by the Sikkimey Nagar Samaj read: " request Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India to issue a notification in the line of statement and assurance made in the Parliament by Union Home minister Amit Shah on December 11 2019 while replying on citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) issue."

The Union Home Minister on December 11,2019 categorically mentioned, " CAB will not effect Sikkim because of its special provisions that is article 371F in the constitution of India."

It has further stated that CAB has already become CAA after the consent granted by the president of India.

"Hence with no scope of the Bill again laying in the Parliament, we humbly request the MHA to issue a "Notification" to be published as assured by Amit shah in the Parliament to the people of Sikkim, " it added.

Moreover, it said that the state government is equal is reluctant on the demand of Sikkim is people to implement inner line permit in the state of Sikkim.

The Sikkemy Nagar Samaj requested the Government of India to implement ILP in the interest of national security and the threat from settlement of un control influx of foreigners, non-locals all over Sikkim particularly in the eestern border area adjacent to sensitive Doklam area and in all four district head quarters- Gangtok, Mangan, Namchi and Gyalshing and in other places.

" The genuine demand as requested above if considered by MHA will stop rumours in the in this borders and state of Sikkim about the law and instill confidence industrial government among the Sikkimiese people, " the notification added.
