Sikkim rape 'victim' denies filing of rape charges against Jacob Khaling; files counter FIR against SNS

GANGTOK: After the Sikkim Nagarik Samaj (SNS), a civil society organization from the state brought an unregistered complaint against Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay, accusing him of rape and molestation to media notice on Saturday, the "victim" in this case Doncee Lama has denied all the accusations against Khaling in a press conference today and called the widely shared FIR as ‘false’ and ‘fabricated’.

Lama has also filed a counter FIR against SNS including defamation amongst other charges.

Lama has denied ever sending any FIR by speed post to the Superintendent of Police (East). Notably, an FIR was believed to be sent by Lama through a speed post on July 6 which was accepted by the SP (East)  on July 9.

What Doncee Lama has to say:

Speaking at a press conference in Gangtok, Lama said. “Youth Person like Passang Sherpa should know that his publicity stunt without consent of her is extremely dissatisfying."

Lama also urged the police to immediately arrest the "propagandists" involved and take "exemplary action" against them.

"Constant comments and messages I am receiving on social media is a complete harassment," added Lama.

Doncee Lama was appointed as Executive Member of Sikkim State Woman Commission:

Amidst the controversy, on August 19, Doncee Lama was appointed as a member of the Sikkim State Commission for Women, after one and a half months of filing the FIR.

Bharat Basnett, President of Sikkim Nagarik Samaj said "Lot of developments have taken place in-between. She was even given the position of an executive member in the State Women Commission. All these factors count to introspect why she decided to step back."

Highly placed sources also informed InsideNE that Doncee Lama has recently received a government construction project in Pallar district of Sikkim as well.

Interestingly, a Mahindra Bolero B6 under her name was registered on July 30, 2021, on the District transport Office website under chassis no- MA1XK2XKXM5FXXXXX. However, mysteriously all the details were later removed from the website as sources have informed. Lama's appointment post is also nowhere to be seen now on her Facebook page.

"When a victim goes from police stations to police stations and justice is not served to her, a lot of things eventually follow up and the same thing happened here as well," said Basnett.

Meanwhile, sources have informed InsideNE that an arrest warrant against the SNS leaders has been issued.
