GANGTOK: Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj appealed the citizens to wake up and raise their voice against illegal practices of the government to safeguard their constitutional rights as enshrined under Article 371F of the constitution of India.

Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj strongly condemned the repeated attempts of SKM Government to weaken the old land laws of Sikkim by misusing illegal notification of 2018.

An official release read, “Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj has time and again requested the state government to withdraw the illegal notification of 2018 but unfortunately SKM Government is hell bent on destroying the rights of Sikkimese people misusing the same notification. “

As such, Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj demanded Land Revenue Department to stop bringing anti Sikkimese proposals in cabinet meetings and request state government to immediately withdraw illegal notification of 2018 in the interests of Sikkim and its people.

Further, Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj is surprised by the fact that scholarships in higher studies are being given to the Trade license holders who doesn't possess Sikkim Subject, Certificate of

It further read, “Identification or Residential Certificate. The education department should be aware that the Sikkim Subject/Certificate of Identification or Residential Certificate are the prerequisites for getting trade license, thus the trade license issued beyond these certificates are all illegal in Sikkim. Therefore, awarding scholarships on the basis of Trade license is illegal and will have far reaching implications if not stopped today. Such illegal practice of education department is against the interests of Sikkimese people and it should be withdrawn immediately.”
