GANGTOK: Sikkim's COVID-19 death toll has touched 203 with five more people being succumbing to the infection in the past 24 hours.
While four deaths were reported from STNM Hospital, one COVID positive patient is reported to have passed away at Namchi District Hospital.
On the other hand, the state reported 215 new cases of the virus during the period taking the state's COVID-19 caseload to 11070.
Of the total new cases, 114 cases were reported from East District, 51 were from South District, 44 from West District, and six from North Sikkim.

Meanwhile, 201 people infected with the virus have so far been recovered during the period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7647.
This was the first time in the second wave that more than 200 people recovered fully in a single day.
Sikkim currently has 3012 active COVID-19 cases.
Of the more than three thousand active cases, only 221 are currently in hospital while 2,729 are under home isolation across the State.
In the last 40 days, more than 33% of the officially reported COVID deaths in the state have occurred. This and other alarming figures have prompted the State Government to declare a week-long state of emergency beginning Monday.
