GANGTOK: Sikkim's Dikcha Gurung of Chuba Secondary School has been selected among 90 girls across the country for the upcoming Challengers Cup to be held at Jaipur.
Gurung will don the national team jersey for the first time on her debut match scheduled for Tuesday.
She will be playing for India Team-B.
“As per my knowledge, she will be the first individual from Sikkim to represent the national team in a cricket tournament and, I extend my best wishes for her debut and the future", said the Chief Minister taking to his social media handle.
“May she attain greater heights in the years to come and make herself, her parents, and the state proud.” he added.
The possibility for her selection for the U-19 women's cricket team for the forthcoming World Cup is also high.
