Darjeeling: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista recently reacted to the Trinamool Congress giving shelter to both factions of GJM Darjeeling.
Responding to a question, MP Raju Bista said that TMC has played the politics of divide and rule over Gorkhas for long.
He also said that they have created 16 Development Boards to divide the Gorkhas, which was rejected by the people in 2019.
When asked about the BJP's strategy, Bista said, "BJP is in alliance with the people from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars since 2009 and we are committed to fulfilling our Sankalp Patra commitments of finding Permanent Political Solution and granting ST status to the 11 left-out Gorkha sub-tribes, and we will do so soon".

When asked on how BJP will fare, after Bimal Gurung has left NDA, the Darjeeling MP who is also National Spokesperson for BJP said, "Definitely Bimal Gurung has support in Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars but the Gorkhas will never vote for TMC, I can guarantee you, the Gorkhas will never vote to make Mamata Banerjee Chief Minister."
When asked why Gorkhas would vote for BJP when Gurung was with them and won't for TMC when he has extended support to them, Bista said, "it is very important to realize that the people of Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars didn't just vote to help Bimal or BJP win, rather they voted to ensure that TMC lost and same is going to happen in 2021."
