The tourists were stranded in Yumthang Valley at a place called Phuney at Singba Rhodendendron Sanctuary due to road blocked by heavy snowfall on their way back to Lachung but all the tourists as well as twenty vehicles have been recovered from the spot. The tourists were brought to the Army camp at Dokra Lachung from where they were again transported to their hotels.
One lady tourist had suffered a fracture during the ordeal and was administered treatment at the Army camp where forty two tourists preferred to stay back. Rescue operations were difficult due to lack of mobile connectivity as well as slippery roads, but the brave efforts and commitment of the rescuers made the rescue possible.
The rescue operation was started at 4 pm and was completed at 9 pm.
All the vehicles stuck at Phuney Area will be removed today with the help of the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) personnel.
