‘Zero enemy policy’: Sikkim CM finds new formula for development

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on May 27^th, 2020, said that his government believes in ‘zero enemy policy’ and not in the political witch hunt.

“We believe in working together for the overall development of Sikkim and her people, the Sikkim CM said while addressing a meeting held to mark one-year completion of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government in the state.

Meanwhile, talking on the COVID-19 scenario of the state, Tamang said, “All the COVID-19 warriors are putting their best effort to prevent the spread of the lethal virus in the state. Their service to the state is commendable.”

He further urged the legislators and his party workers to work tirelessly and serve the people of Sikkim with utmost care, concern and compassion at this crisis time.

It may be mentioned that Sikkim had registered its first COVID-19 case May 24^th, 2020. The DG-cum-Secretary Health, Dr. P.T. had informed that the patient who was tested positive was a 25-year-old male from South Sikkim. He had travelled from New Delhi on 17th May 2020 in a private bus till Siliguri. He had then travelled by SNT bus through Melli Checkpost on the 19th of May, 2020. He was kept under one of the designated facility quarantine centre in South District. He informed that there were a total of 12 persons in the bus, which comprised of 3 people from South District, and 9 from West District.

Dr. Bhutia further informed that the COVID-19 patient was initially symptomatic, but now even though he tested positive, he is stable and asymptomatic. He is currently admitted in the Isolation ward.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim Government on May 26th, 2020, granted permission to the eateries to open adhering to the guidelines laid down to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

All the restaurants, fast food centres, sweet-shops and bakeries are allowed to operate with effect from 8 am to 8 pm but only for pick up, take away and home delivery services. No in-house seating shall be allowed.
