CAP Sikkim stages march, seeks removal of Chief Economic Advisor Mahendra P Lama
Members of the Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim staged a march on Thursday, October 1 demanding the resignation of Prof Mahendra P Lama as the Sikkim government's Chief Economic Advisor.
The party has urged the Sikkim government to remove Lama from the post, alleging that he is linked to a contentious proposal concerning a Permanent Political Solution for the Darjeeling region.
CAP members raised objections to Lama's continued association with the state government, citing concerns over the proposal and its alleged implications for Sikkim.
The party has called for the government to clarify Lama's role in the matter and take appropriate action, including his removal from the position of Chief Economic Advisor.
The protest comes amid political discussions surrounding the proposed framework for a Permanent Political Solution to issues related to the Darjeeling region. CAP has maintained that Sikkim's interests should not be linked to any such arrangement.
The party's demand is now directed at the Sikkim government to address the allegations and clarify its position on Lama's role and the proposal.
