Sikkim BJP adviser Tseten Tashi Bhutia warns of rising security risks along state border
BJP leader and party adviser Tseten Tashi Bhutia has voiced concern over what he describes as increasing threats around Sikkim’s border areas, saying activities linked to neighbouring countries demand closer scrutiny.
Bhutia said information now widely available on social media and news platforms provides a clearer view of developments near India’s frontiers. He argued that these publicly visible updates underline the need for greater attention to Sikkim’s sensitive border zones, where, according to him, anti-India activities cannot be ignored.
Calling the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process “very necessary” and “urgently needed”, Bhutia urged both the government and the public to treat it seriously. While he did not specify the measures involved, he said the exercise is important for strengthening the state’s security framework.
He added that Sikkim’s location along an international boundary makes improved vigilance, better infrastructure, and stronger communication systems essential.
Bhutia said alerts circulating online about activities in certain border pockets indicate that increased monitoring is required and that preventive steps are preferable to reacting after a crisis.
