Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on February 5 expressed his satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the one-day session of the Second Session of the Eleventh Sikkim Legislative Assembly, which was dedicated to the people of Sikkim. The session, which began with a formal address by Governor Om Prakash Mathur, proceeded with significant legislative discussions.

One of the key highlights of the session was the oath-taking ceremony for newly elected legislators, including MLA Aditya Golay from Soreng-Chakung and MLA Satish Chandra Rai from Namchi-Singithang. The House also observed a moment of silence in memory of Late Thutob Bhutia, a former Assembly member, as part of a condolence motion presented by Speaker M.N. Sherpa.

Despite the session’s brevity, multiple important bills were introduced, aiming to improve various aspects of governance and development. These included the Sikkim Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Swastik University, Sikkim Bill, 2025, and the Sikkim Model Schools Bill, 2025, among others. These proposed laws aim to strengthen the state’s infrastructure, education, and municipal governance.

The session also included the election of the Estimates Committee, the presentation of the Separate Audit Report, and the tabling of annual reports from various departments. CM Tamang said that SKM government is committed to inclusive governance, highlighting that the re-election of the current administration with a clear majority for the second time demonstrates the people’s trust in their leadership.

In his address, CM Tamang reaffirmed his personal commitment to standing by the poor and addressing their challenges. He spoke about his administration’s goal of promoting multi-dimensional development and ensuring that the marginalized communities benefit from government initiatives.

Tamang expressed his gratitude to Governor Prakash Mathur for his inspiring address and thanked Speaker M.N. Sherpa and Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa for their leadership in managing the session. The CM also appreciated all ministers and members for their active and constructive participation.

Looking ahead, CM Tamang pledged to continue working towards the betterment of Sikkim’s people, furthering the agenda of inclusive progress and development. He expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Sikkim for their ongoing support and looked forward to their continued cooperation in the future.
