Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is in Chungthang where he visited the site of damage at site of the Sikkim Urja Limited's Teesta Stage 3 dam.
The Sikkim Chief Minister took stock of the damage site and also assessed the extend of the damage caused by the flash floods. During his visit the site, CM Tamang was seen interacting with locals of Chungthang in a bid to gauge the extent of destruction in the area.
Apart from the locals, CM Tamang also interacted with Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Border Roads Organization, GREF, NDRF and SDRF officials at Chungthang, during his visit.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang reached Chungthang today 19 days since the dam burst owing to flash flood. The CM is assessing the extent of destruction caused due to the flood at the Teesta Stage III dam and the Teesta basin.
For the unversed, the hilly state of Sikkim was hit by a destructive flash flood on October 3, causing widespread destruction as overflowing river and lake water washed several strategic routes, disconnecting the entire state from the rest of the country. More than 70 persons have been reported killed, several others missing in the calamity that hit the state.
Meanwhile, security forces are working relentlessly to restore routes, open highways that were shut due to the floods.
