Sikkim: MI-172 helicopter services to resume from Burtuk Heliport to Bagdogra airport

MI-172 helicopter services operated by Sky One Airways Ltd. in collaboration with Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) are set to resume operations between Burtuk Heliport and Bagdogra airport.

The MI-172 helicopter, with a seating capacity of 20 passengers, landed at Burtuk Heliport recently, where it was warmly welcomed by STDC Chairman Lukendra Rasaily, AGM (Operations) Tejpal Pradhan, and the Burtuk Heliport team. Captains Anand Malik and JVS Guron, along with the crew members, were felicitated on arrival.

Commercial services are expected to commence shortly, subject to weather conditions, restoring a crucial link for both residents and visitors seeking faster travel between Gangtok and Bagdogra. The resumption is expected to provide not only a quicker alternative to road travel but also a scenic and comfortable journey.

Booking Details:
Passengers can reserve seats through the STDC Travel Division at MG Marg or via the ticket reservation counter from 10 AM to 5 PM. Bookings can also be made by calling the Gangtok landline at 03592-203960 or the duty mobile number 7318906677. The fare for the Gangtok–Bagdogra route has been fixed at ₹4,500 (one-way).

Baggage Policy:
As per DGCA regulations, each passenger is permitted a maximum of 10 kg of hand baggage. The allowed dimensions are 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm (21.6 in x 15.7 in x 7.8 in).
