87-Year-Old Indian Cricket Fan Wins a Billion Hearts

Guwahati, July 3, 2019:

87-year-old 'granny' Charu Lata Patel became an instant sensation during India's cricket World Cup match against Bangladesh on Tuesday as she was spotted blowing a horn during India's innings.

After she was spotted by the cameraman, her pictures were widely shared on social media platforms by enthusiastic fans.

After she became a 'celebrity', she was interviewed by media persons at the ground and Indian captain Virat Kohli and Vice Captain Rohit Sharma also met her after the match.

The skipper also shared a picture of the enthusiastic fan on social media, thanking her for her immense love and support.

"Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She's 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I've ever seen. Age is just a number, passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one", he wrote.

Later, Charu Lata said that the 'Men in Blue' are like her kids. "I love this Indian team and all the players are like my kids," she said.

Meanwhile, India have confirmed their entry into the finals with a 28-run win against Bangladesh.

A stroke-filled innings of 104 from 'hitman' Rohit Sharma was the highlight of the match for the Indian cricket team.

This was Rohit's fourth hundred in the World Cup and Rohit Sharma became only the 2nd batsman (after Kumar Sangakkara in 2015) to hit 4 hundreds in a single World Cup.
