BTAD and Army Football League Kicks off in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, October 30, 2019:

One of the most awaited football tournaments in Assam was kicked off with great pomp and show at the Kachugaon football ground in Kokrajhar district of Assam yesterday. Doneshwar Goyary, the Sports Minister BTC, attended as the Chief Guest.

The audience witnessed thrilling Gatka and Bhangra performance by 12 SIKHLI and promising performances by Bodo and Adivasi Dance groups.

The opening match was played between Kokrajhar Tigers and Gossaingaon Lions which are from Kokrajhar and Gossaingaon sub-division, respectively, in which the match was tied with a score of 0-0.

A scintillating performance by both teams was put up in the match. The coming league matches will be played on the grounds of Patgaon, Parbatjhora, Kajalgaon and Adabari to spread such events to all the corners of BTAD.

The other teams participating in this tournament are from Bijni, Kajalgaon and Parbatjhora sub-divisions and from Udalguri and Baksa districts.

This platform gives an opportunity to the youth from the remotest comers of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) to come forth and exhibit their talent to the world.

This tournament aims to identify and suitably groom talented players directly from the far flung villages of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts thereby diving into the passion and talent of the youth towards the most widely followed sport in the world.

The final match of this tournament will be played on 24th November in Kokrajhar.
