Guwahati, August 16, 2019:

Assam’s Elvis Ali Hazarika has become the first from the state to cross the Catalina channel in the United State of America (USA).

Elvis Ali Hazarika, reached Mexico from the USA, swimming through the channel and covering a distance of 80 km in a span of 10 hours 59 minutes.

He made his way through the channel despite sharks and other obstacles in the water channel.

Celebrating the Indian Independence Day, the former swimmer also took the platform to portray the infamous inhumane “Abhi-Neel” mob lynching incident in Assam’s Karbi Anglong. The two young music lovers were lynched by a group of miscreants suspecting Abhijit and Nilotpal as child-lifters.

Crossing the channel, the international swimmer waved the Assamese traditional Gamucha with Abhi- Neel’s pictures printed on it.
