A story that tugs at the heart has emerged from the Northeastern state of Mizoram. After the Indian women's hockey team has won the FIH series, a player from Mizoram is hogging all the limelight.
Lalremsiami's father had expired just before India was to play a crucial semifinal at Hiroshima. The athlete was understandably distraught and the team management granted her leave -- but the young hockey player decided to stay on and did not desert the team during its time of need.
The result? The Indian women hockey team defeated Japan 3-1 in the summit clash to win the FIH Women's Series Finals.
Lalremsiami has been lauded by one and all for her resilience and dedication to the sport and all her teammates have praised the Mizoram hockey player, and everybody, including her teammates agree that this brave sports girl has truly made her father proud!

Even Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to commend Lalremsiami for her courage.
On June 22, the day Lalremsiami's father had expired, he had tweeted: "Indian women hockey player Lalremsiami's father expired when India was to play a crucial semifinal at Hiroshima that would determine if India's Olympics dream would be alive. She told coach, 'I want to make my father proud. I want to stay, play and make sure India qualifies"
After India won the final, Rijiju again took to Twitter to commend the girls: "Here comes the great news! India clinched the Women's FIH Series Finals hockey tournament by beating Japan 3-1 in the finals at Hiroshima. What an amazing games displayed by Indian Women team. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team on Twitter. He posted: "Exceptional game, excellent outcome! Congratulations to our team for winning the Women's FIH Series Finals hockey tournament. This stupendous victory will further popularise hockey and also inspire many young girls to excel in the sport."
