The name 'Mahendra Singh Dhoni' has a glorious touch to it. To understand Dhoni, you have to think like him. It is his personality which, perhaps, is a strong reason behind the ‘15-years and running’ career of the erstwhile 'Captain Cool'. Amid speculations about the former skipper's retirement, India's legendary singer, the nightingale Lata Mangeshkar, 89, has tweeted out urging the wicketkeeper-batsman to play on. Lata Mangeshkar's tweet read: "I hear you want to retire. Please don't do it. The country needs you. I request you to not think about retirement".
The tweet has gone truly viral and has received over 75,000 'likes' on the social media platform.
Will Lata Mangeshkar's plea make Dhoni reconsider his retirement? What do you guys think?
We have seen Dhoni go from a youngster with long blonde-streaked hair to a salt-and-peppered eminence. However, perhaps it is time for the legend to retire from the game. After all, he has nothing left to prove, right?
Speculation on Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement was fuelled when media reports doing the rounds suggested that former Indian cricket team captain and the legendary wicketkeeper will be quitting after India's last match in the ICC World Cup 2019.
However, Captain Virat Kohli said on yesterday’s press meet that there has not been any official confirmation on MS Dhoni's retirement. The current selection committee, which is likely to stay till the October, will obviously start the changeover process looking at the ICC World T20 in Australia next year.
