Odisha Sets Record of 16 Goals in U-21 Girls’ Football Match at Khelo India

Guwahati, January 17, 2020:

Odisha has topped the tally in the Under-21 Girls’ Football match at the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games after it set a record of 16 goals in the entire tournament in Assam’s Guwahati.

The match was played against team Punjab, where Odisha won with a score of 16-0. The highest number of goals were made by Deepa Nayak who scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist. While Susmita Tanty scored 2 goals and 2 assists and Bannya scored 2 goals and 1 assist.

Speaking with Inside Northeast, Odisha Team Manager, Devdutta Mohokar said, “Our girls won the match by 16 goals and on the first half itself we were up by 6 goals. By the second half, the girls did excellent and managed to score 10 more goals.”

Devdutta added, “We had earlier managed 10 goals on our first match against Delhi and this is probably the highest goals by the team.”

The U21 girls’ team of Odisha included Bannaya Kabiraj, Shibani Mundari, Jasoda Munda, Sasmita Parida, Deepa Nayak, Subhadra Nayak, Spandita Das, Dipti Rani Kujur, Maxima Kujur, Susmita Dalei, Soni Behera, Susmita Tanty, Shradhanjali Panda, Suman Pragyan Mohapatra, Runi Naik, Juli Kishan, Munica Minz and Jabamani Tudu.
