With all the semifinal spots almost decided, the Pakistan cricket team still has a slim chance to qualify for the ICC World Cup 2019 semifinals! Read on to find out the possible scenarios whereby Pakistan can clinch a spot in the top 4:
Firstly, Pakistan must bat first if they are to qualify for the semifinals. If Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza wins the toss and Pakistan are made to bowl by Bangladesh, their World Cup dreams will be over!
Secondly, they must score 308 or more to stay in contention!
Thirdly, if Pakistan score 350 or 400, they would need to win by 312 and 316 runs, respectively.
Even if they do the impossible and score 500 (!), they will still have to defeat the 'Bangla tigers' by 175 runs.
Earlier, hosts England has ensured themselves of a semifinals berth by beating the Kiwis by by 119 runs, leaving Pakistan and New Zealand fighting for the final spot.
It is to be mentioned that while New Zealand's net run rate is 0.175, Pakistan lags far behind at 0.792.
