NEW DELHI: Indian tennis player, Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Zhang Shuai won the women's doubles title at the Ostrava Open WTA Tennis Tournament on Sunday, defeating Kaitlyn Christian and Ertliffe in straight sets.
This is Mirza's first WTA win in 20 months, she had won her last WTA title at the Hobart International in January 2020 .
This title brings the champion player's doubles title tally to 43

Sania and Zhang had defeated the Japanese pair 6-2 7-5 in the semifinals of the WTA 500 event.
This is Sania’s first title at the 500 level (second overall) post maternity break.
The 34-year-old Mirza, who was contending as a TOPS athelete at the Tokyo Olympics, under the government's Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), four years after she opted out of the programme, could not make her mark there.
It is the second final that Mirza played in this season and her first win in 2021. She finished as runner at the WTA 250 Cleveland event in the United State (US) last month with Chirstina Mchale.
