India’s sprint sensation Hima Das on Wednesday was named in the 40-member Indian athletics team for next month’s Asian championships to be held in Doha. Hima’s inclusion is noteworthy as she made the cut in the 400m despite her below-par showings in recent times.
It is to be mentioned that Hima took a one-month break from training to appear for the 12th exams which impacted her performance in the Indian Grand Prix in Sangrur and the Federation Cup in Patiala.
The ‘Dhing Express’ who holds the national record of 50.79, won the gold in the Federation Cup on March 18 but with a modest time of 52.88 seconds. She ran below the Asian Championships qualifying standard of 52.75 set by the AFI.
